湖南省杂技艺术剧院成立于1959年，2012年转企改制为国有文化企业，现为湖南省演艺集团二级单位。曾赴美国、德国、日本、阿联酋等60多个国家演出，为促进中外文化交流做出了贡献。 创作的杂技（剧）节目在国际国内杂技大赛中荣获过30多个奖项，包括摩洛哥蒙特卡洛“银小丑”奖、全国杂技 “金狮奖”“金菊奖”、乌克兰第三届国际青少年马戏艺术节“金栗子”奖、澳大利亚第五届国际马戏节“未来之星”银奖等。 湖南省杂技艺术剧院以创新为引擎，以文化为纽带，在演艺新质生产力领域璀璨绽放。张家界国际新杂技戏剧周以41.7亿次声量破界融合，打造文旅艺术共生新范式；山南民歌盛典以7.5万直播流量激活区域文旅新势能；中外文化交流以非遗为舟、杂技为帆，书写中外文明对话新篇。

2001年8月应邀参加第二十一届北京世界大学生运动会开幕式演出。
2008年8月应邀参加第二十九届北京奥运会闭幕式文艺表演仪式前演出活动，受到组委会表彰。
2010年7月应邀参加上海世博会—“湖南周”的演出活动，取得圆满成功。
2008年10月为纪念改革开放三十周年我团编创和打造了一台大型杂技情景晚会《雏鹰展翅》，晚会集中我团在国际国内获奖的优秀节目：《中华魂—荡爬杆》《与狼共舞—独轮车》《月影仙踪—杆上蹬人》《百鸟朝凤—芭蕾转碟》用时尚艺术理念、优美舞蹈语汇、梦幻的舞台灯光，使情景杂技从一个全新的角度在三维空间得以展示。演员阵容是经过严格训练四年多的平均年龄15、16岁的学员担纲主演，他们如乳燕初飞、雏鹰展翅，在杂技舞台艺术中飞翔。
2009年9月创作了一台以“湘魂、湘韵、湘情”、 湖湘文化为载体的大型杂技主题晚会《芙蓉国里》作为重点剧目，定为“第三届湖南艺术节”开幕式晚会成功首演，并荣获—“促进文化产业发展突出贡献奖”；2012荣获—“首届湖南省文学艺术奖”。
2012年7月重新加工修改打造的升级版大型文化旅游项目多媒体梦幻杂技晚会《芙蓉国里》在“第四届湖南艺术节”展演中荣获—“田汉优秀剧目奖”。
2012年5月与上海时空之旅有限公司合作，将他们演出经久不衰的精典超级多媒体梦幻杂技晚会《时空之旅》，原版排练移植，并组成《时空之旅》项目演出团，在河南信阳驻场演出400多场。
2015年1月公司又隆重推出大型原创杂技剧《梦之旅》在“第五届湖南艺术节”展演中荣获—“田汉特别奖”，该剧并获2015年度国家艺术基金重点扶持项目。
公司创作的杂技（剧）节目在国际国内各类杂技大赛中荣获过30多个奖项；曾先后50多次应邀赴美国、德国、英国、法国、加拿大、意大利、瑞典、墨西哥、西班牙、荷兰、葡萄牙、日本、土耳其、澳大利亚、叙利亚、摩洛哥、哥伦比亚、厄瓜多尔、卡塔尔、南非等60多个国家和地区访问和商业演出。
